Ross's Goose X Snow Goose hybrid (2) (Anser rosii X Anser caerulescens) User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1291) (Comments - 3512)
Canada (Ontario) Lancaster - We get the odd one in migration with the Snow Geese. This one has more Lesser genes than Ross's. It is a little smaller than a Lesser Snow Goose and has a smaller bill and head like Ross's. The forehead is sloping like a Snow Goose rather than more vertical like a Ross's Goose.

Northern Hawk-Owl (15) (Surnia ulula) User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1291) (Comments - 3512)
Canada (Québec) Trois Rivieres - This bird has been around most of the season and was my 5th one this winter. These owls will be heading north in the next few weeks but it has been an enjoyable winter with them.

Winter Wren (9) (Troglodytes troglodytes) User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1291) (Comments - 3512)
Canada (Ontario) Ottawa - Winter Wren is not a new bird but this was my first in winter, as shown with this snow white background. In Southern Ontario a few stick around but further north they are rare in winter. I made four attempts to see this little guy over the last 6 weeks (not travelling specifically for it) and finally got lucky.

Northern Hawk-Owl (15) (Surnia ulula) User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1291) (Comments - 3512)
Canada (Ontario) Ottawa - This Pileated is not pleased that the owl is still around. It let it know several times. Maybe it had plans to take down the treetop :)
