Gadwall (18) (Anas strepera) User: Chris  (See all photos - 1285) (Comments - 3672)
Canada (British Columbia) A rather complex scene unfolded in front of me today. While trying to photograph a group of Green-winged Teals, slowly more species appeared. What I believe to be 4 species including Green-winged Teal (top and bottom, male female), Gadwall (2 in the centre), Shoveler (towards the bottom left) and American Widgeon (upper right, and middle left). I'm not sure whether the bird in the middle upper left with the orange beak is a Mallard. Seen at Tsawwassen, BC, Canada.

Peregrine Falcon (24) (Falco peregrinus) User: Chris  (See all photos - 1285) (Comments - 3672)
Canada (British Columbia) The sunny weather continues in BC, which made this possible once it was high enough in the sky in Richmond, BC, Canada. One Canada's most formidable aerial hunters up close and personal like I've never seen before.

Peregrine Falcon (24) (Falco peregrinus) User: Chris  (See all photos - 1285) (Comments - 3672)
Canada (British Columbia) A little luck and some patience for the sun to rise - without a doubt my closest encounter with a pair of Peregrine Falcons in 30 years of birding. The birds appeared right at home coming and going from a large tree next to the river in Richmond. An early Christmas present.

Short-eared Owl (13) (Asio flammeus) User: Brian  (See all photos - 939) (Comments - 1963)
Canada (Ontario) Amherst Island - There have been a few birds recently but we had 11 today. That's a high number for this species. The owl is looking directly at me, responding to the camera shutter firing.
