Rockhopper Penguin (4) (Eudyptes chrysocome) User: klogan  (See all photos - 635) (Comments - 27)
The star attraction on Gough was the Northern Rockhopper (please split this bird) -they are now talking of recognising an eastern Rockhopper which would give full species status to the Australian bird

Western Sandpiper (11) (Calidris mauri) User: Chris  (See all photos - 1648) (Comments - 5202)
Canada (British Columbia) In a short but close encounter with a large flock of Dunlin, at least 3 Western Sandpipers, and probably a lot more were present at Boundary Bay. I haven't had any free time in the past 2 months - so it was good to get out for a bit.

Dunlin (34) (Calidris alpina) User: Chris  (See all photos - 1648) (Comments - 5202)
Canada (British Columbia) It seemed that several of the Dunlin were resting and feeding at the same time...being careful with the incoming tide. Boundary Bay, BC.

Dunlin (34) (Calidris alpina) User: Chris  (See all photos - 1648) (Comments - 5202)
Canada (British Columbia) In 30 years, I've never experience something like this. While hunkered down at the water's edge, well over a thousand Dunlin and other sandpipers started making their way towards me. Eventually, all I could hear was a chorus of "peeps" as the birds quickly followed the tide moving in...eventually surrounding me. It was like I was feeding with them at one point. I took a few photos and crawled away, making sure not to flush them on their journey of several thousand miles.

Atlantic Petrel (1) (Pterodroma incerta)
Endangered
User: klogan  (See all photos - 635) (Comments - 27)
It is a 4 day sail from South Georgia to the Tristan group. The Tristan islanders would not let us land- the news of the virus had reached the most isolated populated island in the world. We headed for Gough instead where the seas were alive with birds. Atlantic Petrel was a new bird for me
