Clay-colored Sparrow (Spizella pallida) User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1034)
Canada (Ontario) Chesterville - It must be sparrow time and coincidentally I had one yesterday. They are uncommon in our region with only a few locations to check. Most seem to prefer plantations of short evergreens, up to about four metres high. This one was in a previously unknown location.

From an aesthetics perspective I like when birds are perched in evergreens. Its nice when once in a while you find your own good birds rather than looking for those found by others.

Thanks. It took a little while before it moved into a clear area but the wait was worth it.

I love the song of this species...so different than most Sparrows in Canada.
