Sabine's Gull (Xema sabini) User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1352)
Canada (Ontario) Ottawa - This species occurs on western Lake Ontario each fall in small numbers but is rare in Eastern Ontario. Most Sabine's seen in the south are juveniles. Adults are very rare. The dark gray head and yellow-tipped bill are distinct.

Spectacular catch. Congratulations on the first Sabine's Gull upload, and a splendid adult as a bonus! Those wings are distinctive.

They sure are. I've seen immatures but I waited decades to see an adult. It was worth it.

I saw this individual out in the middle of Lake Deschenes today at about 1 mile distance. No photos possible. Thanks for posting Brian!
